Serve God

WE ARE CALLED TO SERVE

Serving, above all, is an act of worship to God. We believe that serving is critical discipline important to growing your relationship to God and to the church. There are many opportunities to serve at First United Methodist Church of Fort Meade!

Equipping you for ministry:

Ephesians 4:12-13 tells us that the church’s role is to “equip God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith…”.

We believe that at  Fort Meade and you will hear the word “equipping” around here a lot.  We want to assist every person to discover their spiritual gifts and use those gifts in ministry.  We do this because we believe that it deepens your relationship to God and moves you along the path of discipleship.  Every person has a role to play in building the church so that we can be a part of bringing the kingdom of God here on earth.

We want you to be “equipped” to do what God is called you to do.  Jesus said, “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet.”  John 13:14

As a person following Christ, you are called, needed and spiritually gifted to serve in the church.  No matter where you have been, what experiences you have had, you are called to service.  When you answer that call and serve from your giftedness, you will move deeper into relationship with God and make a difference for the kingdom of God.  No matter where or how you serve God through ministry, whether it be through your smile serving as a greeter, going on a mission trip to Nicaragua or through selflessly stuffing bulletins on Fridays for Sunday worship, your service makes a difference in the life of the church.  Your participation is important.  Come find your part in  the body of Christ.

“Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ…who took on the very nature of a servant”.  Phil 2:3-4
